Miss Anna Weickgenant, 81, the last member of an early day Battle Creek family, died at 8:45pm yesterday in a Marshall hospital where she had been a patient for five and one-half weeks.
   Miss Weickgenant, born here on April 5, 1878, was a daughter of
Christopher and Theresa (Zabler) who came here from their native Germany in 1864.

Christopher Weickgenant was a brother of John Adam Weickgenant who settled in Battle Creek in 1850 and who was the father of Jacob Weickgenant, prominent merchant here who died in 1948, and the late John Weickgenant, well-known businessman and civic leader.
  
Jacob Weickgenant, known as the "father" of organized baseball, died here in 1948 at the age of 85.
  
Prior to entering the hospital, Miss Weickgenant had lived with a brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Dorwin B. Gregory of 123 E. VanBuren st.  The sister, Minnie, died last September.  Miss Weickgenant also had lived with another sister, Mrs. Lena O'Malley of 51 Clay st. who was active in Catholic societies for more than 40 years, and who died in 1951 at the age of 78.

In addition to her brother-in-law, Miss Weickgenant is survived by 10 grandnieces and grandnephews.  She belonged to the St. Philip Catholic Church, it's guild, and the Catholic daughters of America.
   Rosary will be said at 8:15pm Monday at the Shaw Funeral Home.  Services will be held at 9am Tuesday at the St. Philip Church with the Rev. Fr. Gerald Owens officiating, and burial at Memorial Park Cemetary.
