How the 3 Little Pigs Became 2

(Or,how the wolf was found blameless)

Once upon a time there lived three little pigs. One was old, one was quite young, and one was a teenager who thought he knew it all. These porkers lived with their mother in a small village south of the border. Though they liked living with her, it was very crowded. So, they chose to move out, and make their own way.

The youngest pig, not knowing any better, thought he could build a wonderful house from straw. After all, straw is a decent, affordable, fairly rigid, and pieces together quite nicely. Thus, he designed a wonderful floor-plan, and built his home alone, out of straw.

The oldest pig, being wise, spared no expense, and built his home out of bricks. It took some time, but when it was done, he was proud of his handiwork. He was certain it could stand up to many storms, and yes, even wolf attacks.

The teenager, however, thinking himself the smartest and most creative of all, settled upon playing cards. Yes, indeed, playing cards. After all, wouldn't that be original? And such skill it would show to his mother and brothers (not to mention the ladies)!

So, the homes were built. Each felt very pleased with themselves. What masterpieces! What joy in knowing they had made their own way in the world.

There came a day when the sky grew dark and cloudy. A storm was on it's way. The eldest pig smiled to himself. Bricks and mortar could surely withstand this. Pitter-patter, pitter-patter. Down came the rain. He was safe in his home.

The youngest brother was not faring so well. Oh no! Though the straws were well laid, water soon traveled through the middle of the upright straws. Wet puddles formed on the floor of his living room. Sadly, he left his home for the safety of his mother. Hopefully to grow a bit more before embarking out on his own again.

Oh! The teenager. What of him? Well, there was a huge gust of wind that struck the middle piggy's home. The house fell violently with the force-and POOF! Down fell the carefully made house of cards. Rumor has it, the Queen of Hearts struck him in the head, and he was never heard from again.

THE END
