We finished the first big marathon of the schedule! In fact, we got done more than we needed to, which is unbelievable. In the last 15 days, we've shot on 7 of them. Normally we do once a week because obviously everybody has school. We got an unprecedented 25 minutes of the movie done in the last two weeks. To recap, we've shot the car dealership scene, psychologist, Jack meets Kitsy, Tony in the bookstore, Professor in his office, finished the classroom scenes (for the most part), and the Starcraze theatre scene. I'm on cloud 9. We're at the threshold of 40 minutes, in fact we may have slightly over 40 completed. At this time last year, we were on our second day of shooting Spade on the River, and all of it (and the first day) would end up being scrapped or reshot. So basically we didn't have a single shot of Spade done this time last year. This makes me optimistic that we can comfortably complete EA without the madcap rush that ended Spade.

Today we shot at the Darkside Theatre. Kaleen and Ron were out of town for various reasons, and I had a hard time getting ahold of Tim De Quilettes (professional actor who played the theatre manager), so I basically had Devin and myself to complete what is one of the most complicated scenes in the movie. However, God in His glory, brought Matt Antis, John Bartel and Tim Gobble (remember him?) to help, and Tim made his way to the theatre riding on his white horse. Not really, but he may as well have. We had a 2 HOUR time limit! Really, God is incredible. This shooting day shouldn't have happened. It should have been disasterous. New crew, no time to rehearse and block, definitely not enough time to get good light setups. Instead it turned out to be arguably the best scene I've ever shot. I sit here typing this mystified at how well it turned out. You can check out pictures here.

Devin Robinson, our 2nd Unit, can't be spoken of well enough. He brings a film school pedigree, an awesome camera (better than our 1st unit camera!), and most importantly an eye. After viewing some of his 2nd unit shots I realized how some of them may save the movie. Definitely adds a ton. Also, we're going to have one of the coolest behind the scenes featurettes in indy film history.

We have a week off until Saturday the 25th, when we get to be reunited with Eric Custodio. Will be a big, fun day. CREW SHOUTOUT: Definitely shouting out to Devin, who is stepping up HUGE. Also, Tim Gobble, Matt Antis and John Bartel for coming in and getting the job done. You guys rocked today. Tim hope to see you on set more often!
