Twas an interesting day today. We woke up early and started shooting at The Book Bin at 8:30am. Brandon Robinson came over to play Thomas, a crazy extrovert running for SB Prez among other things. Mike Noble, aka Mouse, came by to play an employee. Mouse is most famous for getting robbed, beat up and shot in Spade on the River for absolutely no reason. Here he plays an awkward, almost creepy employee. He strikes it so funny, it's awesome. Mouse nailed it. Brandon did too! Out of the park! It's amazing! He says one line in particular so good I can't imagine any way it could be said better. His reactions are priceless. He's in three more scenes, I'm really looking forward to them. Nate started his epic role as Tony. Let me start by saying there are some genuinely funny moments Nate performed today. Nate is so hilarious in real life, I know that will come across on film. My accurate judgement thus far is that I see potential in his performance, he just needs to work on some things. He can be a star though, mark my words. I'll be working with him, and if he comes out like I envision, he'll be one of the most popular characters in the movie. This guy is top 10 funniest people I've ever met, probably top five.

But wow. Angie Lefor came to the set today somehow knowing exactly how to do everything perfectly. It's so funny, just last week she was telling me she wasn't good, and that I would regret asking her to do it. Wow!!! All I can say... Let me pick my jaw up off the floor and try to say something: Angie hit every note perfectly. Every line, every expression, every reaction. I can't think of one thing I would have liked her to do differently. So Angie, if you're reading this, you are awesome! I'm not sugar coating anything, I promise. I've actually grown kind of ruthless in movie making (which is neccessary), so I wouldn't say that unless I meant it! Actually, you already know, you saw how crazy I was with how many takes we did sometimes. Poor Nate, he has such a hard part and we would retake and retake and retake, sometimes because he messed up, sometimes cause I messed up, sometimes to try things differently or sometimes cause we were laughing so hard. But then comes Angies line, and it's like "wow... Um... That's only one take... Okay one more for good luck and then moving on!" But a couple times today we easily passed the 25 takes barrier (Nate suspects that for one particular shot we did in excess of fifty times. Having sat through it all in the editing room, I think he's right).

SHOUT OUT TO THE CREW!
Kaleen Woods is hereby declared awesome! She and I handled every aspect of crew today, as Ron was out for his 21st Birthday (happy Birthday Ron!) and Nate was acting. She did sound, camera (some intense camera work too) and of course lights. Nothing could have happened today if it weren't for Kaleen. Well, I'm sure SOMETHING could have happened, but not much in the way of filming. We're also shooting this Tuesday in Jon Lewis' Film class, which Kaleen attends.
