I started adding prelim sound effects yesterday, the ones we won't recreate (gun shots, projector noise etc...). Tom and I start on heavy foley work this Sunday; we're doing the car dealership scene.
If you're interested, here is a brief list of important cuts made:
About a minute out of the scene where Jack finds out Kitsy is his guardian
angel. Cut out a good bit of the cops, and a bit of J/K's conversation. Also
cut that infernal "of all the people in the world I gotta get stuck with
Kitty-Kat" line, which makes a GREAT end, cause now it ends with the joke:
Kitsy: I don't sleep.
Jack: Well can ya SHUT UP?
Cut a good portion of the salesmans interview with J/K.
Cut a minute out of Jacks final presentation in class.
Cut the Jack monologue to his blue sweats. Finally.
Cut some of Tony's conversation with Kate in the restaurant.
Cut Jack/Kitsy's conversation in the tree altogether.
There are several other little moments that got cut, and probably a few more still will, but every cut helped the pacing and feel of the movie tremendously. It's at 86 minutes, which is one minute longer than I estimated. There are still at least two scenes I am seriously debating over which may get cut entirely, but probably won't. The prof's monologue on love is under SERIOUS consideration, there are arguments going both ways. I don't even think this will be decided by a test screening, I'm just gonna have to make the choice myself. Right now it's staying, but it might make an interesting deleted scene on the DVD.
