2004/04/20 Today Kylie got to go and pick strawberries again. But this time in a BIG group. Kylie, Wakana, Dai, and some other friends all went out to pick strawberries. After that they went to a big suspension bridge nearby to see the koi nobori, or carp wind socks that Japanese people use to decorate for the coming "Children's Day." They are pretty amazing. Some are up to 4-5 meters long!!! Mayuho and I were talking at home tonight about how much toddlers understand. I mean, Kylie loves to climb up on stuff. But it is dangerous. So we tell her that it is dangerous, and she should come down. But she doesn't. So we tell her again, firmly to come down because it is dangerous. But she doesn't. So we pick her up, put her down on the floor, etc, and tell her not to do it anymore. Then she is angry. Now, does she just have a firey temper or does she just not know what dangerous means? Another example is with toys and other kids. She wants to play with whatever the other kids have. I think that is pretty normal. But when we tell her that she has to wait her turn, she ignores us (maybe she doesn't hear us, we don't know for sure), and when we stop her from mugging Wakana and stealing her toys, she throws a fit (a short one). Is that normal? Or is Kylie a bully? Ahh, first time parent worries.... |
