Author's Note: Felt inspired... short and sweet. Based on Melissa's "Give Tess a Chance" Challenge. 1) Must be K/T, 2) Must be based on the lyrics to "I'd Give My Life For You" from MISS SAIGON, 3) Tess must somehow return to Earth to deliver her baby and/or hide it from Khivar, 4) She must go to Kyle and tell him the baby is HIS, 5) ANGST, ANGST, ANGST!, 6) Rating is up to you.



The cries of pain echo in the winds and I know that choices need to be made. I have made my fair share of mistakes, I have learned my lesson, and I will do anything to protect you.

I look down into your brilliant blue eyes and I know. I'd do anything for you. Anything.

I feel your heart beat against mine as I cradle you close to my heart. You ask little of me, but I give you my love and my heart. I give you a future to hold, a future of love and freedom.

I sigh as I place you in your crib. You coo and smile not knowing the truth. Your innocent eyes have not seen the war waging outside these walls. I will make sure you will never feel the pain of war like I have.

You did not ask to be brought here, you didn't even ask to be born. I am glad you are here with me, even if it is for a short time.

Tonight is the night I will set you free. I will give you a life I never had. Soon, my love you will see your father's eyes.

In my dreams he comes to me. The pictures of our past flash before me, the past that I destroyed by a lie, a simple but deadly lie.

I reach out to him craving his touch, his love. I can still feel his electric touch and passionate kisses. I can still taste him, smell him.

I moan softly and then in a flash it is gone. I can't help but think that it was all a lie, that you were never there with me. That you were just a ghost, an illusion of what my heart wanted, what my heart needed.

My heart cries out for you and I look at our son and I know it was real. He has your eyes, your smile... he's the perfect image of you.

The raids are coming faster. I run to the ship with you in my arms and pray that my plan works.

I must take you home. I must give you to your father. It's the only thing I can do to give you your freedom, a life of your own.

Days pass and I know you don't know what's going on. I can feel your fear of the unknown. Trust me, my little one. I want to give you a life of freedom, a life of your father's love, a life away from his evil touch.

The sky is dark and overcast. The moon barely casts enough light through the clouds.

I see the light in the window.

I want to scream.

I want to yell.

I want to cry.

Instead, I knock on the door and I wait.

Our eyes lock. A million words hang in the air but nothing is said. I feel the vibes of our electric passion and love linger in the air.

I lift up our son and he's speechless. He reaches his hand out to touch your face.

I smile as he realizes that the baby I cradle in my arms is the creation of our one perfect night. A night made in heaven, the best night of my life.

A single tear falls as I hold you out to him. I know then I will never hold you again.

He cradles you in his arm. He looks down into your face you both smile, reflecting the love in your hearts. As he continues to study your face, I turn and I run.

I run for your life, I run to keep you safe.

He follows me. He wants to find you my son, but I swear I will do anything to keep you safe. To give you a life of love and freedom. They life I never had.

You will be safe with you father, he will love you as he loved me that perfect night.

It hurts but he will not find you, I made sure of that. I give my life for you.
