this world so full 
of broken toys 
some cast aside 
by girls and boys 

some kept upon 
a shelf with care 
to frustrate those 
who seek repair 

some lie forgotten 
cursed and kicked 
with bitter envy 
at those unchipped 

some started out 
proud and whole 
some were broken 
right from the get-go 

some's blight apparent 
the moment you spy them 
some feign perfection 
until you wind them 

some angry beholders 
rail at the store 
some love their brokens 
all the more 

each has a tale 
holds sorrow and joys 
this world so full 
of broken toys
