Tonk Friends Around The World

When I bought my first Tonkinese I was invited to join an online list of enthusiasts and breeders of this beautiful cat. This list has been the start of many friendships and has been a constant learning experience for me. I have devoted this page to the friends I have made around the world. You will see that some of them have their own website and you will not be disappointed should you decide to visit. Click on their name to visit their website or send an e-mail.

USA

Jill Selkowitz of Selkatz Tonkinese is a wonderful lady who owns GP, RW ChestnutRose of Selkatz ("Chester"), CFA's National Best of Breed in Premiership 1999-2000. Jill's queen Toytown's Kiss Me Kate of Selkatz ("Katie") has the most gorgeous kittens. You will simply have to go to her website and have a look! Jill is the creator of my website and I think you will agree she has done a wonderful job.

Chris June is a Tonk enthusiast but not a breeder. She has the most beautiful Seal mink Tonkinese named Lily, a Gorgeous Blue mink Tonkinese named Indie as well as a Lilac Burmese named Smidget. Chris has recently been bitten by the cat show bug and her Tonkinese kids are doing extremely well. You can see pictures of them at her website.

Bruce & Fran Nickerson of Spielzeit Tonkinese have been breeding & showing Tonkinese for over 16 years. In this time they have bred more than 40 Tonkinese that have reached Grand Champion status in CFA. They have a special fondness for the seal and blue coloured Tonkinese. You can imagine, this lovely couple, are a wealth of information. Unfortunately, they do not have a website but you can email them.

Lisa Haug is a small Snowshoe breeder in the USA. Lisa has three Snowshoe cats and one Tonkinese boy named Meandra Ole ("Ole"). Lisa has become a wonderful friend to all of us from the Tonkinese online group and she actually plans to visit with Jeanine in South Africa in March of 2001. Lisa will bring with her the most generous gift - a female blue mink Tonkinese bred by Joanne of Starstrutter cattery.

Canada

My friend Carine of Klahz cattery breeds Tonkinese and Korats. Carine lives in the most picturesque part of the world you can imagine and her cats are as beautiful as the scenery. If you live in Canada and you want a Tonkinese visit Carine!

UK

Linda Vousden breeds and shows her Tonkinese with GCCF. Linda is famous for the wonderful book she wrote on the Tonkinese cat. I have a treasured copy myself. You can visit Linda and her beautiful Tonkinese at her website. Be sure to have a look at Pagan, a lilac tabby Tonkinese, who is truly stunning.

Christine Richards is the breeder behind the Tonkaholics prefix. This lady is as devoted to the Tonkinese breed as anyone could possibly be. The Tonkinese currently have Provisional status in the UK and Christine is tireless in her efforts to get the breed to Championship status. You can visit Christine and her beautiful cats at her website.

South Africa

Jeanine of Loeloeraai Tonkinese is the owner of South Africa's first pedigreed Tonkinese. Jeanine has imported two Tonkinese from Australia and has another coming from America. The Tonkinese breed will be on the show bench for the first time in March of 2001. We just know they'll be a hit! Visit Jeanine and her babies at her website.

Netherlands

Saskia is one of the few breeders of Tonkinese in the Netherlands. Saskia imported a Tonkinese stud from Australia who she has bred with her Tonkinese queen. It is possible that these will be the first 2nd generation Tonkinese in the Netherlands. You can visit Saskia at her website.

Australia

Mark Lathouras from Emmel Tonkinese is the president of the Tonks & All Breed Club in Qld Australia. He is lucky enough to have a Tonk in each of the four basic colours and produces some very nice kittens. Mark and I have become firm friends and we enjoy talking about and making plans for the development of our breed. Mark doesn't have a website as yet, so drop him an email if you are looking for a Tonkinese in OZ and he will be happy to help!

Loris and Allan of Loral Tonkinese have been breeding since 1990 and showing since 1993. They breed most of the colours including Tabby Tonkinese. For the last three years Loral has had the QICC Tonkinese of the year. My first Tonkinese was bred by Loris and Allan who have entrusted her to me and allowed me to breed her. Their website is also the home of the Tonkinese Breed Club where you can find a list of breeders from all over Australia.
