Elves: Tall, mistical, enigmatic elves are the eldest beings, the first borns. They are the Children of Iluvatar, and were concieved by Eru. After their first awakening, Melkor (later to become Morgul) kidnapped many of them, and bred them into orcs. Early in the fist age, the elves devided themselves into to races, The Eldar, who followed the teachings of the Valar, and the Avari, who refused to summon and thus become lesser Sindarian elves. Elves are thought not to sleep, but merely rest their minds while looking at beauty. They resemble Ainor in spirit. They are known, amongst themselves, as the Quindi. One of their kings, Noldor, had the 19 rings created. three for themselves (Vilya, Nenya, and Narya were their names) seven for the dwarves, and Nine for the mortal men. The elves helped the men to conquer Sauron in the Last alliance, and were sent to the Grey Havens after the Ring was destroyed. They have since faded out of existence. |
