      Jabatan Pertahanan Awam ( Malaysia Civil Defence Force )

Malaysia Civil Defence Force was founded 0n 1952 in Penang and Selangor. Nowadays, Civil Defence is spreading to the whole Malaysia. The Malysia Civil Defence Force is one of the department in Malaysia Home Affairs Ministry. The main strength of the force is from volunteery workers. All volunteer attend the training on every sunday and the training included First Aid, Rescue, Fire Fighting, Comunications and etc.

                  Cawangan Pulau Pinang ( Penang Branch )

As mentioned as above, Civil Defence in Penang was founded in 1952. Now, the Penang headquarters is at lebuhraya peer beside the AW 509 reserve army training base. Penang Branch has devided into two district, that  was Penang district and Butterworth district. The comanding officer of Penang Branch is Mejar Azahar. As a part of development in  Malaysia Civil Defence , we will having our new building in Air Itam estimated in the end of 2001.

                                       Rescue 991 in Penang

Rescue 991 is operating it duties in rolling shift 24 hours a day and each shift have 8-10 rescuer to stand by to give their service to the public. Now, we have 3 ambulance, a fire truck and a rescue truck is ready to get on at any situation. Mostly, our job is  handle the accident case but sometimes we also have to catch the wild animals like snake. During flash flood, Rescue 991 has played the important part. We using our boat to transfer the victim to the safe place , then our welfare section will arrange the food and get them to the temporary evacuation center.
