Pegasus Parade
Information
The Thursday prior to the running of the Kentucky Derby is a very special day for thousands of children, families, and spectators in Louisville Kentucky...it's Parade Day!

The Pegasus Parade started in 1956 and is now the cornerstone of the Kentucky Derby Festival (a two-week celebration of the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports) which attracts 1.5 million people annually.

Ranked in the top 15 national parades by the International Festival & Events Association, the Pegasus Parade is the largest in the region and features top marching bands, celebrities, equestrian groups, inflatables, and beautiful floats.

Each year the Pegasus Parade receives a live two hour broadcast on WAVE3, the local NBC affiliate, and is hosted by guest commentator Willard Scott of NBC's "Today Show".   Approximately 275,000 spectators line the 1.7 mile parade route  on Broadway in downtown Louisville.
