AAUW advances women and girls through advocacy, education and research.

    AAUW Louisville Branch is hosting the 2009 Convention.
    The September 18-19, 2009 convention is being held at the Hilton Garden Inn in east Louisville. The pre-conference is on Friday night September 18th (6:00 to 8:00 pm)at the University Club at the University of Louisville campus. Free parking is included. These dates are confirmed dates.

Eileen de Haro on Friday, September 18 at the University Club AAUW Event: The Way Forward for Women and Girls

Emily Boone, president at Louisville AAUW, will be introducing Eileen DeHaro. AAUW will celebrate 80 years in Kentucky at this event.

Kentucky AAUW Wins with EILEEN DEHARO of Tulane University who is the REGIONAL LEADER of AAUW and a strong example for all AAUW women and girls in Kentucky.

    Ellen Nolan will be presenting the National Girls Collaborative updates for all women and girls in Kentucky. Ellen is the liasion for the Southeast Central Region I KY for the National Girls Collaborative Project out of Puget Sound on the west coast.
    Kentucky branches have increased their local scholarship giving to women in Kentucky. The AAUW Jackson Purchase Scholarship at Murray State University in Murray is a prominent undergraduate scholarship for women at Murray State University. Bring your funds to the meeting to donate to this important scholarship for undergraduate women at Murray State University.

2009 March 28 -- AAUW ANNUAL AUTHORS' BRUNCH with Faye Dykstra, Louisville
March 28, 2009 -- AAUW Annual Authors Brunch, Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville The authors' brunch is a statewide activity and all AAUW members and their guests are invited to the lovely Hurstbourne Country Club. This is the only major fundraiser for the AAUW Educational Foundation/Legal Advocacy Fund held every year by the Louisville AAUW Branch. Faye Dykstra of Louisville is in charge of the arrangements and she will be making a significant contribution to the national scholarship and fellowship programs. Three women authors will be sharing their books: ERIN KEANE has written "The Gravity Soundtrack", Laura Weddle has written "People Like Us", and Julia A. Royston has written "A New Season in Word". All three authors will be available to sign their books. Carmichaels Bookstore is the sponsor of this event. Make your checks out to AAUW/EF for $30.00 each and mail to Faye Dykstra. 204 Beckley Woods Drive, Louisville, KY 40245. All proceeds benefit the AAUW Educational Foundation: Making scholarships and grants available to women since 1888. Bea Barner deceased on September 13, 2008

Bea Barner, a former president of Louisville AAUW, and a longtime director of the Louisville AAUW Annual Authors' Brunch every year at the Hurstbourne Country Club.
Bea is recognized for her work to promote women and girls in higher education in Kentucky.
Bea was a longtime member of the AAUW Louisville branch.
She is known for her very outstanding choices of authors to speak at the annual brunch and was very effective in getting local newspaper coverage of the event every year. Bea was a tireless leader in promoting the AAUW Authors' Brunch. She will be missed.
