Wind is the precursor of the rain, but before the rain they must first become the wind.
The great prayer that follows is the dramatic climax of the Navajo "Night Chant."
The prayer is addressed to the thunderbird of pollen and is carried into the wind-swollen sky that is
the house storms:
Tsegihi
House made of the dawn
House made of evening light. . .
Dark cloud is at the door. . .
The zigzag lighting stands high up on it.
