A Lone Wolf
G. Covington Smith
A warrior, hunter, provider we see
Is usually a wolf's life and then
We don't always know the life they lead
Of how lonely some may have been.

A long wolf searches for lifes simple needs
Without the help of the pack
When all he needs is the help of one
A soulmate to help with the track.

A soulmate that could lend a helping hand
Even warmth against weather so cold
A companion to fulfill an empty heart
To complete his courage so bold.

This mate would be there to help at times
With lifes sometimes cruel struggle
In hard times and not, always to bo there
At the den, even in warm playful snuggle.

He searches through forests and glens
Over prairies he searches so hard
If only he would lend to the feeling there
The Great Spirit would furnish this part.

This greater force in lifes whole plan
Surpasses all that is in his mind
To yeild to the one that was placed right there
Why was this one so easy to find?

A perfect match, it's so easy to see
The same wants, desires, and more
If only he could then relax his search
He'd see a love that he could adore.

His search could now be over
With a mate that is also done
After heeding the guidance from the One above
A life that could be perfect. . . . .as one.
