About me
My name is Ky Du.  I was born in Vietnam to two illiterate parents and was raised in Los Angeles.  My passion for teaching stems from my parents’ struggles in our literate world.  Their dreams and perseverance led where I am today.  I graduated from  California State University Northridge in 2002 with a degree in Liberal Studies.  Two years later I received my teaching credential.  I’ve missed being a student so much that I decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.  I’ve just started my fourth year of teaching fourth grade at Cesar Chavez Elementary School.  Watching my students grow intellectually and develop into productive citizens fuels my desire to teach.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that all students learn and develop at their own pace.   Every child is unique and posses special talents that when nurtured with care and encouragement will grow.  As a teacher I believe in setting the bar high and encouraging each child to set and reach their goals.  My goals are to develop critical and analytical thinkers who make mistakes and learn from them, who make good life decisions, and are life long learners.

E ED 602 (Applying Technology to Curricular Goals)
This class was designed to help teachers integrate technology into their curriculum and management.   In this class you will learn how to create a personal webpage.  The assignments for this class allow you to develop a newsletter that will inform students and their parents of your expectations and the structure of your classroom.  Creating a grade book is another great assignment that helps you organize and figure out students’ grades quickly and efficiently.
