Note: Lived for a time in Franklin Co. Ga. moving to Miss. in 1809 (Amite Co.) Was a Baptist Minister and owned 10 slaves at one time. Licensed to preach in 1815. He along with John Hill and John Impson. with 7 members.in March 1826 constituted the Catahoula Baptist church. The second oldest baptist church in La. One of the signers of a memorial to the U.S. Congress by the inhabitants of Amite Co. Miss., Asking for one year indulgence to settlers on public land before they could be removed except by purchase. Also signed a petition to the U.S. Congress by the inhabitants of the Territory of Miss. asking for the establishment of the Miss. river on the west, Lake Pontehartrain and the shores of the Atlantic on the south and east as boundries and admission into the Union as a free, sovereign. and independent state.
In 1822 he Emigrated from Mis. and settled on the Ouachita River in what is now the Enterprise Community in Catahoula Parish, between Harrisonburg and Copenhagen La.
Died at Oction, now known as Pollock La.. His body was carried back to Enterprise and he is buried beside his wife, Alicia, in a stone enclosure on a high ridge S.W. of Enterprise.
