Chapter List

As he walked his way out onto the main court he stopped behind where a group had gathered. He folded his arms and leaned against a hard, stonewall. There was what seemed to be a man being dragged out and up onto a platform, kicking and screaming. A closer look showed that it was no man, but a large badger dressed in a torn and worn tunic. The guards shackled his wrists down to the ground and placed his head over a thick stone, an edge of it was curved for the chin to rest on. The badger continued his yelling and swearing at the men and women that had gathered nearby. Behind the creature was a large man with a black hood over his head. In his hands he held a very large and heavy double bladed axe, which he was busy sharpening on a stone. The badger tried to break the shackles but it was useless, they were drove down into the platform and wouldnt budge.
Vous ferez tout salaire! Les animaux ne resteront pas sous votre rgle impitoyable jamais! The badger yelled out. Richard smirked and pushed through the crowd towards the platform.
Creature, do you really believe that you and your beastly kind can make us pay for our coldhearted treatment, as you put it. He asked calmly. The badger fixed his gaze upon him and spoke once more.
Vous humains croient que vous faites a rasion. the badger looked across the entire crowd. Vos crimes contre les animaux seront justifis par une jeune crature de rouge. Vous verrez! With that said the badger turned his head back to Richard and spat at him. As Richard wiped the spittle off of his shoulder, the executioner brought the heavy axe down at the badger, taking off everything from the neck up. Richard smirked and continued on his way.
He soon arrived at a stable. He located a messenger as soon the messenger was on his way. One of the men at the stable turned to face Richard. What was all of tha commotion? the man asked. Richard looked at him and smiled.
A beheading. He told him.
Ah, another one of those beasts taken out of the world? the man asked with a smirk. Richard nodded and chuckled.
Aye, but get this. The last thing it said t me was something like, Our crimes would be dealt with by a familiar foe. Like he was a prophet! Both of them laugh about the badgers statement.
They never cease to amaze me with their desperate attempts to strike a blow with words. Pathetic really. The man said. Richard nodded in agreement. The two men continued talking about random things until the messenger had returned, accompanied by another man. Richard looked at him and grinned.
Ah, the King in charge of the Northlands. Follow me. Richard said before turning and walking towards the main hall. They walked until they finally met up with the man in the black. The king kneeled before him.
What do you ask of me, Lord Diable? asked the king. The man in black, Lord Diable, stepped up to him.
Was it not your job to monitor all of the locations which held animals? He asked. The king looked up at him slightly.
It was, sir. He told him.
And was it not your job to locate and prevent traitors? The king nodded.
Yes sir, it was. Lord Diable folded his arms and sneered at the king.
Then why was there an escape and a traitor hiding the creatures in you area for so long?! yelled Lord Diable. The king stared at the floor, unable to give an answer. Lord Diable walked around behind the king, unfolding his arms. He placed a hand on the handle of his long sword, which was shaped in bone with a small skull at the end. In one swift movement he pulled the sword out and before the king knew what was happening the blade of the sword was buried in the back of his head. The king dropped to the ground, lifeless. Lord Diable would not tolerate failure.
