Chapter List
Everything moved so fast. Sword crashed against sword, dagger for dagger. Clubs were soon rendered useless by the sharp swords. There were war cries and screams of pain all at once. Swords sliced through the air and punches met fur and skin. Every way of fighting available was put to use in the battle for life or death.
I stood amongst the fighters, trying to help as much as I could. Ive never been so scared in my entire life. I stood as close to Ziara as allowed. I gripped my sword in both hands, unsure of what I could do.
My first challenge didnt take long to present itself. A human around my same size rushed towards me. He held his sword high up into the air and swung it down quickly towards me. My eyes widened and I did the only thing I could think to do. I ducked down and held my sword above my head, closing my eyes as his sword crashed against my own. I then looked up at him as he lifted his sword from mine. He then brought his boot hard under my sword and into my chest. I cringed and fell backwards in pain. He aimed his sword and thrust it towards me. I was completely defenseless. Then, out of nowhere, a sword swept upwards under the humans arm as it came down towards me. I closed my eyes, not wanting to see the blade make short work of flesh and bone, tearing the entire human arm off halfway between the shoulder and elbow. The human let out a yell of pain, but the sword crashing into his chest soon silenced it. I was then pulled up to my feet. I opened my eyes to look up into Ziaras.
Renard, are you- She was cut off by a human bumping into her. She let me go and spun around, slamming the hilt of her sword into the humans temple, dropping him. There were less clangs and noises as more lives were lost, human and animal alike.
Captain! Behind you! It took me a couple seconds to figure out that the tiger from earlier was speaking to me. I spun around and by luck my sword clanged against another sword that was headed right at my ribs. I backed up slightly as the human captain from the camp pulled his sword away from mine. He swung his sword diagonally at me and I brought my sword up to block. I closed my eyes as the vibrations shook my arm. When I opened them I had seen that the vibrations caused the human to drop his sword. I took the moment and pull my sword up, ready to bring it at him. Unfortunately, he took that moment to dive at me, knocking my sword from my grasp. I fell on my back and the human immediately started pummeling me with punches. My vision started to blur as he continued to literally knock the sense out of me. I did the last thing I could think of doing: I opened my muzzle and bit down onto his hand just as I had done to Terrance. This human was a little harder to cave in though. He let out a sharp yell and started pounding on my muzzle with his free hand. I could only bite down harder as the human continued his assault. I could taste blood, both the humans and my own, in my mouth.
Luckily, Ziara had noticed what was happening and quickly rushed over to me. She picked my sword off the ground and brought it towards the humans back. He suddenly went limp and dropped down over me. I released my hold on his hand and shoved him off. Ziara pulled my sword from his back, the blade now bloody. She pulled my up by the arm and smiled at me.
Youve got to learn a new trick, Renard. Biting just wont cut it. I smiled slightly, though I could hardly think strait. Most of the fighting had died down but the danger was still there.
Ziara then looked past me and her eyes widened. I turned to look to see a human bringing its sword down towards my skull. I closed my eyes as the blade came strait for me. Then, without warning, Ziara suddenly shoved me to the side, causing me to go tumbling. She brought my sword up to meet the humans and deflected his blow. I watched as she brought the sword down then sliced upwards and across the humans chest. I fought to stay conscious as she continued to do battle as human after human came towards her, seeing her as the biggest threat. She was, I knew she was. One of the humans spotted me still moving and brought his boot across my head. That was where I lost my battle for consciousness as everything went black.
