Another night, another Nu-Metal sell out gig in London. Although, unlike with Limp Bizkit, the crowd isn't too much like a midget convention to make it disconcerting. And no Wembley security. YAY!
Anyway, first up it's another flashback to The Lost Weekend, with Hundred Reasons up on stage making a rather pleasent noise. Although they said "This is our last song" for the last three tracks. Read the setlist, man! I dunno what you're doing, you haven't released anything!!! Still, the time honored tradition of T-Shirts and obscure sampler CDs were sent to the crowd.
After a strangely long wait (c'mon, soundcheck and a plain backdrop don't take 40 minutes), along bound Incubus, leading in with Privilege, a fine choice if I (and just about everyone else there) say so. Still dunno why Jose has to sit side-on, though. Weirdo.
Anyway, next we get Clean and Brandon's drum making it's first appearence of the night, as well as several other favorites, like New Skin, Glass, Stellar and Nowhere Fast, giving us a good mix of both albums, interspersed with Brandon's call of "New song, y'all", and we get a taster of the upcoming album.
After realising the backdrop has indistinct small squiggly images moving around on it, it's time to play the new single Drive, and it goes all karaoke on us. We also get the likes of Vitamin spicing things up, as well as Make Yourself, Favorite Things, The Warmth and another newie. This really points out the following the lads from Calabasas have picked up, and going by a Sold-Out Academy, they really know how special this lot are.
Although not calling up stuff from early days like last time, of DJ Kilmore having free reign on his scratching, we get a more balanced, fluent set. As well as an unexpected airing of Nebula.
However, the set isn't done without a certain track that we all know, and get played at us from the menu bar on the official site, so ladies and gentlemen, get singing along, as it's time to say Pardon Me, which the entire crowd did so with gusto. Of course, the sly devils walk off, but we all know there is more...
And so there is. Back again, and it's I Miss You, keeping up with the sing along they started. Then to finish off, it had to come, A Certain Shade of Green, igniting the venue for one last time. Hang on, that didge was on the speakers the whole time and you don't play Redefine? Why I ougta...
Still, we get all the highs that come from Incubus, and a good time al round. Didgeredoo or not.
Back.
