Picker Picker
REMEMBER!!! Your
screen will look different and have different options depending on what tool
you have selected.
Refer back to the left hand side of your screen to see
what is selected.
Using the Drawing Tool: draw
different kinds of lines
Click the Draw Button
Choose a color from the color
picker (move your mouse over the color picker to see choices)
Pick a tool from the tool picker (pencil=solid,
chalk=soft/fuzzy, crayon=hard/fuzzy, marker)
Choose a size for your line
Choose a shape for your line
(freehand, straight, curved, shapes-empty or filled)
Move your mouse to the
drawing area
Click, hold, and drag to draw
Using the Paint Tool: add
painting effects
Click the Paint Button
Choose a color from the color
picker
Pick a tool from the tool
picker (paintbrush, sound art, spray can—they each have different options)
Choose a size if applicable
Choose a painting mode
Paintbrush
modes: realistic or wacky
Sound Art modes:
mouse-move or hands-free
Spray Can modes:
3D shapes or moving
Choose a painting option (the
options will be different depending on which mode you choose)
Move your mouse to the
drawing area
Click, hold, and drag to draw
Using the Fill Tool: fill an
area of your picture
Click the Fill Button
Choose the type of fill by
clicking on one of the buckets (solid, blend, pattern)
Choose the color/pattern on
the right side of the tray
Move your mouse to the
drawing area
Click inside an area to fill
*TIP: Be sure the area you fill is enclosed.
Using the Electric
Mixer Tool: mix up parts or all of your picture
Click the Mixer Button
Choose the mega or mini mixer
from the left side of the tray
Choose a size if applicable
Choose a mixing effect option
from the right side of the tray
Move your mouse to the
drawing area
Click your picture (or click,
hold, drag for the mini-mixer to mix certain areas of your picture)
Using the Stamps Tool: add stamps
to your picture
Click the Stamp Button
Choose a category of stamps
on the left side of the tray
Scroll through the stamp
choices using the up & down arrows on the right
Choose a size for your stamp
Click on the stamp you want
to use
Move your mouse to the
drawing area (the mouse arrow will change to the selected stamp)
Click where you want to place
the stamp
To edit a stamp:
Click the stamp you want to edit
Click the Stamp Editor (pencil)
Use the tools available to edit the stamp
Pencil:
draw on the stamp
Fill Bucket:
choose a color from the color palette below and recolor the stamp
Undo:
undo your last change
Firecracker:
erase the whole picture and start from scratch
Flip:
turn the stamp over from left to right
Rotate:
turn the stamp 90 degrees each time you click
You can click Restore Original to go back to the original
stamp
Click OK when you are finished
Using the Text Tool: add text to
your picture
3 different ways:
*Draw a text box (can check
spelling and have computer read it out loud)
Click the Text Button
Click in the drawing area where you want the text
Start typing (the box will grow as you fill it up, but
you may need to resize)
Format the text using the choices on the left side of the
tray (color, style, size, etc.)
*In Small Kids Mode, add
rubber stamp letters
Move your mouse to the very top of the screen
When the mouse arrow changes to a triangle, click and
hold
You will now see the toolbar options
Click the option that says “Small Kids Mode”
Click the choice that says “Turn Small Kids Mode On”
Click the Text Button
Click any letter in the tray to hear its name (scroll using the up &
down arrows on the right)
Select the letter and move your mouse to the drawing area
Click where you want to add the letter
*Use the ABC Text feature to
paint wacky text
Move your mouse to the very top of the screen
When the mouse arrow changes to a triangle, click and
hold
You will now see the toolbar options
Click the option that says “Toolbox”
Click the choice that says “Edit ABC Text”
Type the text in the dialog box
Click OK
Click the Paint Button
Choose Wacky mode, click the ABC Text brush, and start
painting to see the text
Using the Grab &
Move Tool: resize, move, or delete a text box
Click the Grab Button
Click the Hand in the left
side of the tray
Click the text box to see the
edit handles
To move it: click
the box at the top and drag it
To change the size or shape: click, hold, & drag one of the corner
handles
To delete: press
the Delete key on the keyboard
To flatten text so it’s part of the background: click the Toolbox menu (see above for how to make the menu appear) & choose Flatten Text
Click the Scissors to cut out
part of your picture and paste it someplace else
Using the Eraser
Tool:
Click the Eraser Button
To just erase part of your
picture, click the Little Eraser:
Choose the size of the eraser
Pick an eraser option
Click, hold, and drag where you want to erase
To erase your whole picture,
click the Big Eraser:
Pick
an eraser option
Click anywhere on your picture
*Clicking on the Firecracker on the right
side of the screen does the same thing)
To Play a Picture:
Click the green play arrow on
the right side of the screen
Click the stop sign to stop
To Save a Picture:
Click the floppy disk on the
right side of the screen
Point to where you want to
save
Name the picture
Click Save
To Create a New
Picture:
Click the piece of paper on
the right side of the screen
To Exit the Program:
Click the door on the right
side of the screen
If you haven’t saved, it will
ask you if you want to save before exiting
To Print the Picture:
Click the printer on the
right side of the screen
Select if you want to print
full page or poster and click OK
To change to SlideShow mode:
Click the SlideShow
button in the lower right hand corner
If you haven’t saved, it will
ask you if you want to save before switching to slide show mode
*I would suggest making
all of your pictures first before switching to slide show mode
Using the Library Tools
Backgrounds: goes behind everything else in the picture
Scroll through the list of categories
Click, hold, and drag a background to the drawing area
Stickers: “floats” over the background of the picture
Scroll through the list of categories
Click, hold, and drag the sticker to the drawing area
Animations: when you play your picture, these will move
around like cartoons
Scroll through the list of categories
Click, hold, and drag the animation to the drawing area
Click the play arrow to see a preview of the animation
Sounds: each page can have one sound; pick from a
category or record your own
To load a picture:
Move your mouse over a slideholder to see the Load button appear below it
Click the Load button
Browse to where the picture
is saved
Click the picture you want to
use and click Open
The picture will now show in
the slideholder
To move a picture:
Click, hold, and drag the
picture to another slideholder
To delete a picture:
Click the picture
Drag it to the Trash Can or
press the Delete key on your keyboard
To set slide advance
options:
Click the My SlideShow button (movie camera)
Click the Advance Settings
button for the slide you want to change (time)
Choose one of the 4 options
Click OK
To set transition
effects:
Click the My SlideShow button
Click the red Transition
effects arrow either in front of or after the slide
Choose a transition effect
Choose a sound (or choose no
sound)
Click Preview to see how the
transition will look and sound
Click OK
To set audio options:
Click the My SlideShow
button
Click the Audio Options
button (microphone)
Choose whether or not to play
sound and/or text
Click OK
To Play your SlideShow:
Click the Play button
If it is not set to advance
automatically, you may have to click the mouse
To stop playing before it is finished, press the Esc key on your keyboard
To Save your SlideShow:
Click the Save button
Browse to where you want to
save
Name the slideshow
Click Save
To Print your SlideShow:
Click the Print button
Choose one of the 4 modes
Choose the orientation and
which slides to print
Click OK
