Creating Webs Using
Inspiration
When
you open Inspiration, you will be prompted to insert a Main Idea for your
web. Type your topic and see below for
two different ways to expand your web.
1. -After you type your topic (don’t hit Enter),
click the Rapid
Fire button.
-Type your sub-topic and press Enter.
-Type your next sub-topic and press
Enter.
-Repeat until all of your sub-topics are
created.
-Click off in the white space to
de-activate Rapid Fire
OR
2. -After you type your topic (don’t press
Enter),
click one of the
Create buttons.
-Your new sub-topic box will pop up in the
direction of the arrow you selected.
-You must click back on your main idea
before
you click Create in order for your
sub-topics
to branch from
your main idea.
Once
you have created your web, you can customize it.
You
can change the shape of the box or add a picture by clicking on one of the symbols
in the symbol palette.
(If
you don’t see the symbol palette, click View in the top menu bar and click
Symbol Palette)
You
can change the fill color, line color, etc. of the box by clicking on Effect in
the top menu bar. You will see many
different options to change the look of the boxes. (line thickness, fill color, line color, text
color)
You
can change your text by clicking on Format in the top menu bar and selecting
your font, size, and style.
TIP: Before you make changes to any of your topics,
make sure the one you want is selected by looking for the red edit handles
around the box.
TIP: To edit multiple topics at the same time:
-Click on one to select it
-Hold down the Shift key
-Click on others you want to make the same changes
to
-Release the Shift key
-Make your selections
To
view your web as an outline, click the Outline button
You
should see an organized outline of your web.
You
can edit your web in this view by clicking on
the
Add Topic, Sub-Topic, or Note buttons
To
get back to the web, click the Diagram button.
You
can automatically arrange your web by clicking on the Arrange button
and
selecting which style you prefer. Shown here
is the Top Down Tree.
Before
printing, click File and select Print Options.
Change the settings to fit your needs.
To
print, click File and select Print.
Don’t
forget to save! Click File and select
Save. Name your web and click Save.
