The Hoth system is a star system located in the Anoat sector of the Outer Rim. This system contains six worlds, including the ice planet Hoth that served as a Rebel hideout during the Galactic Civil War. The Hoth system is a remote area of the Greater Javin region, located on the fringes of the known Galaxy. At the centre of the system lies the small, blue-white star Hoth, around which orbit six barren, life-less worlds. The first, Shron, is a volcanic world, while the fourth, Nushk, is covered by methane oceans. The gas giants Jhas and Ordaj are orbited by many moons, while barren, rocky Biosh is devoid of any satellites. The sixth planet, Hoth, is a frozen world with three moons. It is believed that eons ago, the six planets in the Hoth system were joined by two more stellar bodies, but collided to form a dense asteroid field in relative proximity to Hoth. Now, the Hoth Belt serves to cut the system off further from the greater Galaxy, as it constitutes a navigational hazard only the foolhardy or the desperate are willing to traverse. Despite its remote location - or rather, because of it - the Hoth system attracted unwanted attention during the Galactic Civil War. The Rebel Alliance, on the run from the evil Galactic Empire, established an outpost on frozen Hoth, but the base was soon discovered by Imperial probes. The Empire descended upon Hoth in force, and after a vain attempt at defence, the Rebels were forced to flee to the outer edges of the Galaxy. Many transports attempting to flee the system were captured or destroyed by Imperial warships, though one particular freighter, the Millennium Falcon, led the Imperials on a perilous chase through the Hoth Belt. The Falcon emerged in the Anoat system, and limped to Bespin for repairs. With the Rebels gone and the Imperials in pursuit, the Hoth system was once more left well alone.
