Hoth hogs are porcine mammals native to the ice world of Hoth. These small creatures are the natural prey of the omnivorous tauntauns. The Hoth hog is a boar-like beast adapted to the cold climate on Hoth. They have thick, grey-blue skin and a large mane of white fur covering their head, neck and back. Hoth hogs have small tusks sticking out from their wide mouths, and piercing red eyes. Small and compact, these snow creatures are rarely seen on Hoth, and are even more scarce thanks to the fact that they are consumed by tauntauns when the snow lizards feel the need for meat. The vicious wampa ice creatures also eat Hoth hogs, though these small beasts are barely large enough to constitute a snack for the voracious wampa. It is believed that Luke Skywalker may have encountered Hoth hogs during his patrols of the area around Echo Base during the Galactic Civil War.
