Loyola at the Sears Ontario Drama Festival
Loyola has participated in the Sears Ontario Drama Festival for the past three years. This is a province-wide event wherein schools prepare one-act plays and compete with each other, travelling from school to school. It is a learning experience, however, and the spirit of competition is one which is meant to nurture the creativity of young actors, directors and playwrights.
In the 2003/04 school year, Loyola produced three one-act plays. All of these plays premiered at the Artz@Loyola 2004 Pre-Festival Show. Afterwards, both "Her Fatal Beauty" and "Cagebirds" were taken to the Woodlands school in Mississauga for performance. "Her Fatal Beauty" actors Kimmy Maier and Michael McCrudden both won 'Acting Merit Awards' for their performances, and the "Cagebirds" cast won an 'Ensenble Merit Award' for their help in directing alongside Tony Nashed.
