A huge thanks to Mary Gowan whose help in the 80's was invaluable to us!
William Washington McGraw took in his "cousin", Nannie Jane Latas Heathcox as a toddler.
It is unclear to me if Nannie is actually his cousin, or his wife's, as the only info I have
supporting it is from the 1880 census. She certainly was raised with the family, and was married to
Robert Franklin Hale, on 17 SEP 1893, as "Nannie J. L. McGraw". She was a dark haired beauty
of Cherokee and Nottoway Indian heritage.
