| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SUNDAY, March 30, 2008 Media Contact: Tom Durkin 763-746-1754 [email protected] Alternate Contact: Mark Anderson 763-639-5379 [email protected] COON RAPIDS REALTORS ORGANIZE MASSIVE FOOD DRIVE The Realtors at Keller Williams Classic Realty realize that times are tough. They know from their day to day business activities that many people are in trouble and need some kind of help. March is Minnesota Food Share Month and food shelves across the state are looking for help to replenish their supplies. Thats why the Realtors decided to lend a hand to the Anoka County Brotherhood Council (ACBC) by organizing a massive food drive. Today from 1:00 to 4:00PM the Realtors will be holding simultaneous OPEN HOUSE at 40 homes in the Coon Rapids area. Each home will be staffed by a Realtor and serve as a collection point for non-perishable food and monetary donations to benefit the work of the ACBC. The ACBC is a non-profit organization serving Anoka, Andover, Burns, Coon Rapids, Oak Grove, and parts of Champlin since 1971. When times are tough, food-shelf stocks can be depleted quickly. The Realtors believe that their efforts will give back to the community and help where help is needed most. They have set a goal to collect more than 1,000 lbs. of food to donate to the ACBC. The Realtors efforts will be greatly appreciated and the need is real. According to Cheryl Gross of the ACBC, visits to the food shelf are increasing. We are seeing an increase in visits of about 10 to 11%, says Gross. We average about 500 to 600 visits and distribute about 45 to 50 thousand pounds of food each month. Shannon Opitz, Team Leader at Keller Williams Classic Realty is hoping the public will help make the food drive successful. Its like our own parade of homes in Coon Rapids, says Optiz. You can come out, spend the day, see some great homes, and help a worthy cause.
