"Holding Out for True Love"

( Love Journal )

Feburary 1, 2001 (Monday, 11:40 p.m.)

Perhaps one of the longest running lessons I had to learn in my life is holding out for true love. Finding a long lasting friend who would be all mine, someday. Love is such a wonderful thing. As with many others teens and young adults, I often find myself wondering about the day when I could be married and have a family to call my own. Ofcouse, I'm in no hurry. I still have dreams to accomplish and school to finish which is very important to me. If love comes my way, I'll welcome it with open arms. And if it doesn't, I'm sure God has a reason for giving me time to grow and be a little more patient. This I do know, God has and will always be there for me, and His love satisfies all the love I need.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy,
it does not boast, it is not proud. Its is not rude,
it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it
keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in
evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects,
always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

			- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 -

Throughout my youthful years, I find that although having found that one who would love you so, I strongly believe that I would not be any much happier if I myself was not content living a single life of my own. Every person needs their own space to grow and florish. That is why I find patience, loyalty, trust and faith as the important qualities for long lasting love. Faith in God being the most important of all.

I'm quite sorry to say that love and relationship portrayed these days seem to be just empty love rather than lasting love. Media often showing dating shows and one night stand where love are just mere emotions lived in the ecstasy of the moment. True love is about growing up together, learning about each other, accepting one another and is something that should last more than a couple of months, weeks or a day. Keeping in mind that not everyone is fit for anyone. The journey is long and enduring, but its rewards are priceless and a blessing to those who find it.

I also feel that just because someone likes another person, thats not enough reason for the person being liked to like that somebody back. From experience, although this may hurt to say, pity is such a weak excuse for loving someone back, and I find it very true. I mean c'mon, love has to be deeper and more meaningful than that. Something that goes deep within the clothes they wear or the way they live. Physical attraction still plays a big role but quickly decays in importance when personality and attitude comes to play.

"You don't just fall in love... you grow in love..."
                          - Kuya Chris Luzadas -

Nothing happens merely by chance. Nor was love ever meant to be played. You walk by reason, live by faith and let God lead the way. I do admit I have to take a chance and let go of the past. The sting of heartbreak is cold and it hurts. I'm still thankful of those mistakes too because they helped me advance and learn a much greater understanding about love and about myself. Everyone has to go through the flame, feel the burn and learn to cope with sorrow. Love hurts but those who learn from experience and live to tell about it grows wiser with time.

To express the true meaning of love would be impossible to contain. Everyone finds their own way in life. I'm still learning new things each and everyday. Like I've said before its a long journey, not something rushed just to say you had it. Do it right because life is too short to spent it living a mistake.

"A (weird but well written) Love Story"

January 10, 2002 (Thursday, 12:45 p.m.)

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings
lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others
including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that
the island would sink, so all repaired their boats and left.

Love wanted to persevere until the last possible moment.
When the island was almost sinking, Love decided to ask for
help. Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love
said, "Richness, can you take me with you?" Richness
answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my
boat. There is no place here for you."

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a
beautiful vessel, "Vanity, please help me!" "I can't help you
Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat." Vanity
answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked for help, "Sadness, let me
go with you." "Oh....Love, I am so sad that I need to be by
myself!"

Happiness passed by Love too, but he was so happy that she
did not even hear when Love called her!

Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come Love, I will take you." It
was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that he even
forgot to ask the elder his name. When they arrived at dry
land, the elder went his own way.

Love realizing how much he owed the elder and asked
Knowledge, another elder, "Who helped me?" "It was Time,"
Knowledge answered. "Time?" asked Love. "But why did
Time help me?" Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and
answered, "Because, only Time is capable of understanding
how great Love is."
