"The War"
You will eventually encounter what is known as a “war bore” (someone who was in, or they say they were in) Kuwait during the war which they mean as Iraqi invasion of 1990/1. A lot of WB’s think their brown stuff does not smell and expect others to be impressed although as you will see, a lot of them are nobodies that would also be nobodies back in their home country. There is no doubting the invasion caused a lot of people a lot of pain and stress but do we have to keep hearing about it?
“During the war” can also now mean the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and gives the impression that you are nonchalant, brave and have seen it all. For new arrivals, you were probably in London or New York during similarly explosive events so you know as much as they do about being at any risk. |
