| Little Star I seen a shinning star, It didn't look so very far, I reached up to feel, to touch, I found the distance was too much! I watch it most every night, Up there, twinkling, sparkling, bright. Lonely it seems to me, Hanging there above the trees. Surrounded by darkness, Beautiful in it's starkness, Icy white,in the night, Needing someone to hold it tight! I can not touch it, you see? I can not hold it close to me, I can not kiss it tenderly, I can not ease it's misery! Twinkle, twinkle little star, How very alone you really are, Setting there twinkling in the sky, Only eyes, for companions,by the by...... Are you part of a constellation, Or alone from hesitation? Shine down on me little star, I'll be your friend from afar. "Copyright" Joyce Gosdin 5/25/2001 |
