I think its just the "tint of the moment" that you are noticing. Have you ever noticed that in anime ( as well as in some books and movies ), that certain moods/events are tinted in different colors to convey and enhance the moment ( aka in flashbacks). I know its a little bit confusing, but I hope that helps.
