to me it’s all a mystery
you’re trying to escape the history
while you’re blinded by your misery
you got to be here
and you got to be there
can’t you see you’re just running scared
chasing down that happiness
winding up in another mess
still not knowing what is best
you’re moving so fast
to get away from your past
dodging all the stones been cast
you gotta slow down
take a good look around
so much there that you don’t see
because there’s too many places
where you’d rather be
life’s a beach and we’re grains of sand
you’re not happy with what you have
i’m here to tell you it ain’t so bad
when the tide rolls in to sweep you away
it will lead you to where you’re meant to stay
and perhaps you’ll find a brighter day
don’t worry about your emotional state
understand it’s not too late
all it may take is a twist of fate
be good to yourself, don’t fret over me
perhaps someday we all shall see
why all of this just had to be
you gotta slow down
take a good look around
so much there that you don’t see
because there’s too many places
where you’d rather be
