About me

Periyathamby Kuruparan received first degree in Civil Engineering from faculty of Engineering at University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 1998 and Masters Degree from Urban Environmental Management field of study at  Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand in August 2001. At present, He is working as a Senior Environmental Specialist-Solid Waste Management for the Environmental Restoration Project at United Nations Office for Project Services”, Sri Lanka Operation Centre(LKOC) , Colombo, Sri Lanka. He had been conducting research on the project called “Sustainable Solid Waste Landfill Management in Asia” under the framework of the Asian Regional Research Programme on Environmental Technology, funded by the Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency (Sida). His recent research interest and experiences includes Municipal Solid Waste treatment prior to landfill, energy recovery, landfill rehabilitation and landfill mining, methane oxidation of landfill gas, anaerobic and aerobic composting and other environmental related activities.
