Some situations where momentum is involved.
Football
Trains
Collisions
Pretty much anything that moves has mass and is being accelerated.

Even the smallest running back can run over the largest defensive linemen.  The factor that allows for this is called momentum.  You do not necessarily need the largest amount of mass as long as you have a large amount of velocity.  Emitt Smith is not the largest of running backs yet he has enough momentum and blocking to run over some of the largest d-linemen.
For some stats on Emmit Smith
Trains have a large amount of mass as well as a speedy velocity.
Everytime that a collision takes place there will be a transfer of momentum.  The total amount of energy will not be gained or lost but transfered.
The large amount of mass accounts for the amount of momentum.
