Number One Contender Situation Reported by: Samir Nurmohamed of SmackdownCentral.com on Jan 09, 2001 At the current time it seems quite unclear on who Kurt Angle will defend his WWF title against at WWF Royal Rumble 2001, the first pay-per view event by the WWF in the New Year. It seems as though Triple H will continue his feud with the Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin, which makes it unlikely that either of them will have a shot at the WWF title. However, it seems that the best bet to face Angle would be either one of the contestants from the WWF SmackDown fatal fourway match between The Rock, Undertaker, Rikishi and Kane. Also, it is most likely that Rikishi and Undertaker will start a feud with Angle, so the chances of seeing one of the two feud with Angle are very slim. Austin/HHH/Angle match at the Royal Rumble Reported by: Farouk Chakwa of Wrestlewire.com on Jan 09, 2001 As I reported earlier regarding the Austin/Triple H feud continuing on RAW, it looks like it will build up to a match at the Royal Rumble. The WWF feels that the Triple H vs. Steve Austin feud still has plenty of more steam left and want to run it for a while, because there is much money to be made from a marquee match-up like this. Although the 30-man Royal Rumble match itself is regarded as the main draw, the WWF still has a title match at each event. Triple H and Steve Austin were originally to have a one on one match for the title. However, if the WWF decides to keep the title on Angle, look for a 3-way title match at the Royal Rumble.
