So who are over and what do they stand for?
Over started out as a joke, really, cos all we wanted to do was be in band night at our school and to us, this was success. As days and shit went on we thought we were pretty good and then thought we could probly do more...

Originally a pipe dream of Andrew and former guitarist Ashton, now playing for a band called The Retakes Committee, who have come incredibly far over the last year or so. We would spend days in fuckin school talkin about how as soon as we left wed be a devoted punk band, basically visioning the whole future as we expected it.

We hooked up with former drummer Craig the cider boy (known as this cos he od-d on cider a day before one of our practices and had food poisoning at the same time) Adn we started playing Blink 182 and Green Day tracks in Craigs house. Ok so there was fuck all space to stand but at least we had a band, even if we didnt have a bass player. What happened then is John Hall, also of Retakes, let us borrow his bass, but without a 4th member, (we wanted to stay as a 3 piece) we were stuck on who would play bass and who would be the guitarist.

Ashton quit before things could take off

Then for a while nothing happened,, and it looked like band night was over. Then Ashton calls and says that Andrew and Craig can be in, that is if they get a bass player.... and another singer...... in 4 weeks.

So then we thought "Steve sings, lets get him to do it" and he said "whats in it for me?" so we bribed him with maxibon ice cream things, and he came running. Of course, that isnt really true, he has a very big fee, so we had to deal with it legally.....
AAAnyway, Andrew and Steveo and Craig all got together and started doing some Nirvana shit, then sum Green Day and Blink, and even a bit of AAF. Soon we had a repertoire of about 10 songs with which we could play at the big night. Buuuut we still had a few weeks to wait.

Then Steve signs us up for Music Fest, and we play:
-Good Riddance (Time of your life)
-All Apologies

Which goes down well, even though there were many technical hitches. The kind you get at your first real gig.

Then with only 5 days til band night, me and Steveo do a little acoustic set at the White Hart pub. We play:
-Jesus Don't Want Me For A Sunbeam
-Good Riddance again

This time its recorded, and it sounds pretty good. Hey it's our first record.. a covers record but a record all the same!!

Them along comes band night, and weve only practiced 3 times and one of those was the night before band night. Andrew and Steve show up on the day and sit around for about 10 hours til soundcheck. Only thing is: Craig didnt make it on time so we had to scrape in at the last minute for a soundcheck....minus one bass player.

Then someone says theyll play bass for us, they know all the songs, and then the band is complete.

Shit.

Bassplayer pulls out and were stuck with 1 guitar, 1 drummer and 1 singer, who plays some guitar. Were the second band on, and we play:
-All The Small Things
-Church On Sunday
-About A Girl
-Smooth Criminal
-Smells Like Teen Spirit
-Tourrettes
-Drain You
-Basket Case

And it didnt go too badly.

Then for a while jack all happens, then we find out that Andrews sister, who was supposed to be videoing band night, only to be told she didnt press record. AAAh well thats just great....

Then Andrew and Steve play regular gigs at the White Hart every Thursday, along the way playing:
-Come As You Are
-Man Who Sold The World
-About A Girl
-Polly
-Church On Sunday
And some others. Then for a short while Over are on hiatus, what with Andrew taking a year to better his guitar skills at the ACM, and Steveos doing his bit for society at West Kent College. Prepare for the imminent return of OVER.
