And so it was. The Inuyasha-tachi were walking along through a village, because Kagome had sensed Shikon Shards. At the sight of the half demon, Almost everyone had scampered, leaving Miroku, Sango, Inuyasha, Kagome and Shippou to search around it silence.

“Are you sure you sensed it coming from over here Kagome?” Inuyasha asked, sniffing around by a stack of barrels.

“Yes, I’m sure of it, they’re here somewhere...” She sighed, trailing off and searching through a patch of grass.

“How many shards did you sense Lady-Kagome?” Miroku asked, surveying the area with narrowed eyes. he could sense something.... Though he was not to sure of what it was, it was still out there.

“Do you sense anything Houshi?” Sango asked, looking around one of the huts. Miroku decided on whether he should say anything or not. It could be all in his mind after all... But there it was, the feeling again. he was sure that something was out there.

“Yes, there is something out there. Can you sense it Inuyasha?” He asked, gesturing to the Hanyou. Inuyasha sniffed the air and growled, pulling out Tetsusaiga.

“Come out from hiding you coward! I know your there!” Inuyasha shouted, poising Tetsusaiga in front of him.

A small chuckled erupted from the outskirts of the forest a few yards away from them. Miroku readied his Kazaana and Sango her boomerang.

“Who is there?” Miroku demanded, stepping up to Inuyasha. The chuckling grew louder. Miroku sent Sango a worried glance without even knowing it and frowned to himself. Why was he worried. Whatever was out there, it was surely not as strong as it may seem, being that we detected it so easily...

“Heh. Foolish monk. My presence here has nothing to do with you.” The voice sneered. Miroku glared. A moment later a man appeared from behind the brush. He had solid black hair, and green eyes. he was dressed in baggy trousers and a black and green kimono top. Miroku glared even harsher, s he saw the mans focus was not on him, but someone else. Turning around, Miroku saw that Sango had dropped her boomerang, and looked as if about to cry. Miroku was taken aback. When had Sango ever looked like this? The monk raced through his memories, and came up with a conclusion; The only time she had ever looked this weary, was when she had found out about Naraku’s control over Kohaku.

The man started to approach, and Inuyasha lunged for him, managing to slice him on the back. The man flinched, and fell to the ground. he started coughing, and Sango just stood there, Paralyzed. The man looked up to Sango and gave her a weak smile.

“Sango dear... it seems as though your friends....do not approve of me very much...” He mumbled, trying again to sit up.

“Sango...what?” Miroku repeated, walking over to where sango stood, but not letting his gaze get side tracked from the man. When he got there, he saw that kagome had dropped everything and ran to the Taijiya, who was now sitting on the ground, looking more fragile than a china doll. She was crying silently, as she avoided all eye contact with both the man, and himself.

What was going on!? Miroku turned to Inuyasha, and saw that he was standing near the man, looking him over. Miroku could see the confusion. The same thought was plaguing himself, Kagome, and even Shippou; Was this man a friend, or foe?

“Who are you?” Inuyasha growled, poking the man with the hilt of Tetsusaiga. The man chuckled, as he succeeded in standing up, and once again looked over to Sango.

“So.... she hasn’t told you?” He asked innocently. Sango flinched, visibly trying to make herself smaller.

“Who are you!?” Kagome demanded, standing up to glare at the stranger. The man eyed Kagome for a second before shrugging.

“Why not ask Sango? She obviously seems to remember.” He stated, sitting back down, and staring intently at her.

Sango returned his stare with one of her own.

“Sango...?” Miroku asked, kneeling down beside her. Sango shifted uncomfortably, but still didn't remove her gaze.

“He...He was my....fiancé...”
