Game history is interwoven with human history, starting in the Egyptian Empire five thousand years ago.
Ancient games foretold the future for citizens and kings. As games were played, fate was decided in magical ceremonies.
These were called "Shadow Games."
Summary/Review: Yugi Mouto is the most picked on guy in his high school. He spends all his time playing board games, but lately he's been trying to put together a puzzle; called the Sennen Puzzle. He's been at this for eight years. One day, as usual he's being picked on by two bullies; Jounochi and Honda. Jounochi steals part of Yugi's puzzle. A hall monitor, and also the biggest bully in the high school claims to be Yugi's bodyguard, he mauls Jounochi and Honda, without Yugi asking, and expect Yugi to pay. Yugi, not knowning what to do, solves the puzzle with ease. Jonouchi, after being rescued by Yugi, returns the puzzle piece to Yugi's Grandfather, and tells him the situation. Yugi's granfath secretly puts the money in Yugi's backpack while giving Yugi the puzzle piece. After wishing on the puzzle, and slipping it on his neck, a change overcomes Yugi, and he blacks out. But another Yugi has taken his place and sends the bully to a "Shadow Game" where the story begins...
