Ujina Army Hospital
The plaza was filled with wounded people, and the stream of dead bodies going out and new patients going in. Red Cross Hospitals from Okayama, Yamaguchi, Tottori Prefectures as well as others provided care on a rotation basis. After hearing the news broadcast that the war was over, many were shocked into despair, and their corpses quickly piled up. Those who were in treatment worked to treat others as soon as they became able to walk. The heat rays from the bomb had penetrated so deep that the middle and inner layers of my skin (and other people's?) had come apart, and my eyes, nose and mouth were shifted out of place on my face. Due to the lack of adequate medicines and doctors, I had to give myself a blood transfusion, which had a positive effect on my condition. This shows a comparison of the preparedness of medical care at the time of the Hiroshima bombing.
