KDP And PUK Move Closer To Apply Washington Accord

Sami Abdullrahman, the head of the KDP delegation for peace talks with PUK, asserted that
they have agreed on a number of compromises to help them apply a 1998 accord, reported
Enbae Kurdistan, a PUK publication in Arabic, today.

In a press conference following the peace talks in Sulaymaniya, the KDP delegate told the
media that “ this agreement cannot be stigmatized.”

According to the source, the KDP delegate said that both sides have overcome the question
of revenue obstacles, the matters of deportees and joint work to convince UN to support
deportees. He also added that  both sides have agreed to release political prisoners."

Enba also reported that Omer Said Ali, the head of PUK delegation, affirmed that both sides
have reached agreement on several questions except the question of the joint parliament
where a point remains under discussion. He expressed his hopes for KDP’s full cooperation
to achieve a complete agreement.

Regarding military affairs, the PUK delegate said that the military committees of both sides
will meet on April 18 of this year. He also asserted that the offices of both parties are going
to be open in Arbil and Sulaymaniya.
