Barham Salih, the Prime Minster of the PUK-lead Kurdish Administration
in Southern
(Iraqi) Kurdistan, announced that his party and the KDP have agreed
to contact the new US
administration in Washington to discuss the future of international
protection for the people
of Kurdistan, reported the London based Arabic newspaper,Sharq-Alawsat
today.
In a statement to the paper the PUK PM said that he visited the KDP
leader, Massoud
Barzani, in Salahiddin representing the PUK leader, Jalal Talabani.
Mr. Salih delivered a
letter from Talabani to Barzani, urging the two sides to find common
grounds on matters
concerning security of Iraqi Kurdistan.
The PUK official added that he would leave for Washington in the next
few days to discuss
security and protection issues with American officials.
