Information Note:
Our foreign broadcasts are considered as the voice of the Turkish
Republic. In this regard,
it is very important that our foreign broadcasts are in line with our
national goals and
policies. It is, therefore, necessary to take the
following into consideration when
preparing programs within the framework of psychological operations.
It is necessary to ensure that the media will not provide information
that might negatively
affect counterterrorism operations, in an unsupervised manner.
The fact that terrorist activities have ended does not mean that the
danger from terrorism has
disappeared. Within this framework, media organs
should continue to support and to show
interest in the struggle against terrorism and should broadcast programs
to increase morale
and motivation of the people.
At times of sustained terrorist activities, the media should use every
opportunity to
emphasize that groups which take their side by the state will always
receive the necessary
attention and that the state will always support these groups.
In the struggle against religious exploitation as well it is necessary
to ensure that those who
are sincerely faithful are not hurt. It is also very
important to pay special attention to the
efforts of the terrorist organizations and radical groups to exploit
this.
Certain public officials' misbehavior, crimes, and mistakes are investigated
and the results
are announced to the public in a transparent way.
It is very important that the media organs
correctly assess these issues and provide correct information to the
people. Otherwise, the
trust in the state may be shattered.
