The PUK-controlled radio stated today, Saturday 7/3/98, that
the forth round of peace talks between the PUK party and
KDP have been postponed. The Talks were scheduled to be
held in the PUK controlled town of Koy-Sinjaq.
The radio added that the postponement of the talks came at the
request of Mr. Aziz Muhammed and KDP officials.
However, the PUK radio report did not mention when the talks
would resume.
Mr. Azîz Muhammed, the former leader of the Iraqi Communist
party, was the mastermind behind the last three meetings that
were held between the KDP and PUK
