All right truth be told this isn't a very funny Manga but it is good. The main guy is named Hajime Kindaichi. He's in 11th grade (my guess is he's like 16 or 17 i lean towards 17) and hates going to school (remind you of anyone?) Unlike our beloved Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho, Hajime is actually a genius with a 180 IQ. Impressive huh? Well Hajime's grandfather was this really great detective named Kosuke Kindaichi, and apparently the detective skills run in the family because Hajime is a great detective as well. His best friend is a girl named Miyuki Nanase. They have been friends since childhood. Ok another comparison to Yusuke but Miyuki and Hajime's relationship reminded me of Keiko and Yusuke's relationship. You know they started as friends but you knew there was more to it then that. Anyway that's where the simlarities end. While Yu Yu Hakusho deals with demons and the spirit world this Manga is basically just a mystery/detective story. There have been three out so far, The Opera House Murders, The Mummy's Curse, and Death TV. In the first Manga, Hajime has to prove to Detective Kenmochi, who is so impressed at the end that he becomes Hajime's ally. The detective realizes how good Hajime's detective skills are and puts faith in him in the other two cases that come up. All right this Manga can be kind of gory at times and a bit perverted, (Hajime gets a um well you know what guys get when they're "happy" in the 2nd Manga, it's actually quite entertaining when you see what Miyuki does when she figures it out! LOL), but when you overlook some of those things it is really good. I enjoy it and I usually don't enjoy the really serious stuff but i like this one. I think there's 11 total but I'm not sure. I'll probably add more to this page later including more info on each of the Mangas. |
