Chapter 9

Sam fell faster and faster through the portal.  Her body floated lifelessly, her arms bent in ways they should not have been, and her arms and legs had two-inch cuts on them from where the electricity had escaped through her body.  She was half dead when she was spat out and hit two unsuspecting people.  She moaned as her tired body lye in the lap of one caring and beautiful man, Kurama.
Who is that?  Hiei looked angrily confused.
I dont know.  She must be important if she came out of the portal.  Look here at her arms and legs.  We have to get her to a hospital fast.
Huh?  Hiei and Kurama looked down to find that the young woman had opened her eyes.  She barley got her mouth open but they clearly heard her.
I haveto find Odedaand stophim.  Kurama looked at Hiei then gently picked Sam up and the two of them took her to the hospital.  Hiei stood in a corner barley lit by the sunlight.  It was early morning and the sun was just rising.  Sam lay helpless in a white bed surrounded by machines.  Her legs were bandaged, as were her arms.  Kurama sat in a chair next to her.  Earlier they had argued her importance.  They concluded that she could not be merely a human, fore no normal human would survive the jolts of electricity that she did.  Sam moved a bit and moaned softly.
Odeda, seek his help.  Get there before he does.  Kurama sat up and went to her side.  Hiei stayed put.  He cared less about her health; he just wanted to stop the portal from opening.  Kurama watched as her movement increased and she continued to utter words of warning to someone she knew as Odeda.  Sam was covered in sweat and Kurama did his best to help her cool down.  Suddenly her eyes flew open and Kurama was forced back by a disturbing force.
What on earth!
Kurama?  Look at her eyes.  Kurama walked back over to Sam.  Her eyes were still, frightened, and even more so, they were a dark purple.  Was she possessed?  Kurama got closer to her and saw that all her wounds were healing.  The cuts she had on her face, the scar on her throat, they all healed completely.
Hiei do you see what I see?
I do and II cant believe it.
Well believe it.  I think this girl is part demon.
She cant possibly be.  She looks and smells too much as a human.
How could she have survived the portal and how else do you explain the fact that she just healed herself?
Sam sat up in the bed and looked around.  She saw Kurama and she saw Hiei.  She rubbed her eyes once, twice, three times before she realized that she was not dreaming.  She was here, wherever that was, and she was with her one true love.  Without warning she lunged at Kurama, knocking him to the floor and hugging him so tightly she nearly cut off his oxygen supply.  Hiei had this confused look on his face.   His eyebrow twitched and he didnt know what to do.
Hiei! Dont just stand there, help me!
KURAMA. Kuramasexy Kuramaall mineyou are all mine, mine, mine, mineKURAMA!  Sam paused when she felt the edge of a sword touch her back.  She turned to see that Hiei had drawn his sword and was ready to attack.  Suddenly a nurse walked in and found the tree of them all huddled together.
Ill just come back later.  She looked at the situation, then turned and left.
Alright.  Who are you and why did you fake all those injuries if you were able to heal yourself in the first place? Sam let go of Kurama and he moved to the back wall.  He was petrified.
Why?  Why did she hug me like that and why was she looking as though she wanted to eat me?  Why? Sam stood and Hiei moved his sword with her and held it at her heart.  She stepped forward and fell.  Hiei moved his sword to the side and caught her in his arms.  He was confused.  Why did she have all this energy before and now she was right back where she started?
Kurama?  Get up, we have work to do and we have to start with her.  Kurama was sucking on his thumb.
Those eyes!  She was going to eat me!  I tell you, she was going to eat me!
[SMACKED]
Kurama snap out of it!  We have to find out who she is and how she made it here.
You are right.  We have a job to do.  But those eyes...
Hiei rolled his eyes and put Sam back in the bed.  He looked at her and thought,
How could a human girl have the power to heal herself?  Was she really half demon?
Hiei?  I think we should take her back to my house.  There is no need for her to be here since she has the capabilities of healing herself.  The nurse would get too suspicious.
I agree but I think we should wait until dark.
That is not for another 12 hours though.  Kurama stood in puzzlement. Then he came up with a plan.
The two of them pushed a stretcher toward the elevator dressed in white coats and nametags.  Sam was completely covered and out for the count.  Hiei and Kurama kept their composure and waited for the elevator.  Nurses passed by and did not question them.  A few eyed them, but none made the slightest movement to come up to them and ask them what they were doing.  It was a smooth get away, or so they thought.  The elevator doors opened and within it were two more doctors.
Ah Doctor Watanabe and Smith?  How nice of you to bring the patient to us, but we have decide to do the operation in room 323.  Hiei and Kurama met glances.  What would they do next?  Kurama simply walked up to the unsuspecting doctors and place his hand on their shoulders.  He leaned in as if to talk to them then suddenly they collapsed.  Behind them was a plant, which came out of the long sleeves of Kuramas stolen lab coat.  He and Hiei finished their mission and were on their way to the first floor.  Everything seemed simple enough.  Once on the first floor, Hiei and Kurama wheeled Sam out the back of the emergency doors and discarded their coats in a back ally.  Hiei took Sam in his arms and the two of them were off, back to Kuramas house.
Sam was sleeping in Kuramas bed when she woke up for the second time that day.  She looked around and saw that everything was in place.  His books were stacked neatly atop one another.  His lamp, bed, and dresser were all against the wall.  His room looked perfect.  The white walls and his blue sheets, pillows, and spread all looked so elegant.  She shook her head, and held it after realizing that she helped a headache emerge from the back of her head.  She fell to her knees as she saw images of a blue jewel.  It shown brightly, nearly blinding Sam and she saw a tree with an opening in it.  There lodged deep under the trunk of it satthe Blue Lewej.  Sam was brought back to reality and gasped for breath.
So that is what he meant.
What who meant?  Hiei stood in the doorway of Kuramas bedroom.  He had watched her the whole time she was in the trance.  When he moved closer to her Sam jumped back on the bed and into the corner.
Stay away from me Hiei!  He stopped and grinned.
How do you know me?
I know you and Kurama.  II just want to go home.  She began to sob and Hiei felt sick to his stomach.  She defiantly could not be part demon.  This was just getting annoying.
Look I wont ask how you know us, but I do need to know who is after you and what you meant by he when you had that vision.  Is there someone after you?
Sam was overwhelmed with the questions.  She wiped her tears with the flat of her palm and moved toward the edge of the bed.  Hiei squatted where he was and looked Sam in the eyes.
I was taken I guess.  This guyI think I know himhe was a friend of Odeda and me.  I have to find her, she could be in trouble.
Sam stood up and ran for the door.  Kurama blocked her and she came to a halt.
We want to know some things first.  What is your name?
Sam backed up and went back to the bed.  She looked at Kurama, who had now closed the door behind him and stood next to Hiei.  Hiei looked at the ground.
My name is Sam.  This guy I knew took me.  He said that I was going to help him findthe Lewej, but I have no idea what or where that is.
The vision you just had?  What was it about? Hiei asked.
II saw a tree, it was dark and there was this blue, glowing, diamond.  Hiei took some interest and leaned in closer to Sam.
Where did you see it hidden Sam?  Be very specific. Kurama was worried that Hiei was getting too into her story.  He placed a calm hand on his shoulder and Hiei backed off.
I dont know where exactly.  I just saw an opening in a tree, and under it was thisLewej that he is after.  Kuramas head turned to Hiei.
Yes this guy that is after you.  What did he do to you?  Sam shuddered at the remembrance of it.  Her eyes saddened and she looked out the window next to Kuramas bed.  Her eyes filled with tears.
Look can I just go home? I just want to make sure Odeda is all right, I-I got away from him and I just want to go home!
Hiei frowned, fine go home if you want to get yourself killed. Sams eyes widened and looked back at him, fear apparent in her eyes.
Kurama gave Hiei an admonishing look, what Hiei meant is that going home may not be the safest thing for you at the moment.  Sam plopped down on the bed and pulled her knees up to her chest, tears flowed freely down her cheeks.
I knew going on that stupid trip would be a bad idea but I went anyway Im so stupid!
Hiei and Kurama looked thoroughly confused, trip? She, however, was not paying attention to them anymore.
She dug her face in between her knees, this is why I stay at home, why I prefer watching other people on TV do the fighting and risking their lives, not me!
Kurama bit his bottom lip, worry starting to eat at him. Forgetting for the time being her attack at him earlier he sat next to her and put a comforting hand on her shoulder, if you want our help, youre going to have to clear up some things for us.
Sam sniffled and looked up at him, like?
Hiei leaned in, like how to find the Lewej to begin with.
She couldnt help but scowl, I dont know! Im not even sure what I saw!
Kurama let a small smile grace his lips, at least the girl had guts, tell us exactly what you saw, every little detail.
Her eyebrows furrowed together, I-Ill try but I cant promise anything.
Hiei snorted, It shouldnt be that hard.
She whimpered, Well Im sorry but Im not some hard core demon who can take anything the world throws at her, Im a normal teenage girl who got thrown into something she shouldnt have been put into.
Kurama sighed, Actually you may not be that normal.
Sam looked over at him with the most pathetic expression, what?
Hiei rolled his eyes, You healed yourself.  Obviously youre not normal.
Sams eyes widened, I did what?
Kurama raised an eyebrow, You mean you didnt know you could do that?
She shook her head, If I had known I could do that, I would have learned how to skateboard!
Hiei blinked, What?
She blushed, Oops sorry long story there.
Kurama smiled, Are you all right now?
She gulped, Well as ok as Im going to be knowing someones after me.
Kurama nodded then paused, Um just out of curiositys sake, how do you know who we are?
Sams cheeks turned a bright red and she looked down at her knees, uh well you see
