Chapter 7

The two women sat in the tent.  Odeda spoke first.  No I read your thoughts.  I could hear your mind.  I heard you say, Only a fool uses the blue. Sam didnt know what to think.  She just shook her head over and over again as though she were confused.  Suddenly someone popped their head in the tent.  It was the professor.
Everything alright in here? Odeda looked at Sam.  She was still startled.
Yes. She lowered her voice to a mere whisper. Everything is fine in here.
Well alright.  You gave us quite a scare there Sam.  Say, Robert and Martin said that they cant find Jack.  Where did you last see him Odeda? Odedas eyes widened, she heard something that she wish she didnt.
Hes been taken.  He has no mind of his own now.  She looked down at Sam, her lips were not moving and yet she knew this was Sams voice.  What was happening to her?
Odeda?  Did you hear me?
Sorry professor, umm the last place I saw them was at the river.  As a matter of fact, Sam says that she is feeling much better, I think I should take her out to get some fresh air.
Well alright, but only if she is ready. Sam are you sure-
Shes fine, I can look after her sir.  Odeda took Sam by the arm and helped her out of tent.  As they came out, Martin and Robert were coming towards them.
Hey Sam you alright?
Yeah you gave us such a scare there man...I mean woman.
Did you find him?  Did you find the cloak yet, you have to find the cloak. Sam was rambling.  Robert and Martin were puzzled.
What cloak Sam?  Are you cold or something?
She just needs some fresh air is all, we are going for a walk.  Odeda pushed passed the two men and began walking towards the wood, in the same direction they went to get water from the river.  Sam was growing weaker; Odeda could feel it in her.  She didnt know how, but Sam was loosing her life force.
Odedawe have tofind. we have to She was speaking to her through some kind of mind telepathy.  This was getting too weird for her to handle.  They stopped in front of the tree that they had seen earlier.  The way it looked was as though something had killed it.  Earlier it looked fresh and green, now the leaves were practically gone and the branches now looked like a weeping willow.  Odeda heard movement in the bushes near by.  She set Sam against the tree trunk and stood in front of her.  She didnt know how, but something was out there, and she knew it wasnt a rabbit.
Who ever you are come outnow!  She didnt see herself, but she was in fighting position.  Her stands were that of a warrior.  She could feel an immense power coming out of her.  Leaves beneath her feet began to blow away from her on all sides.  Suddenly she was lifted into the air and thrown into a nearby tree hitting her left arm.  In pain, she managed to collect herself and stand.  When she focused her eyes on the tree where she sat Sam, she could see a shadowed figured standing over her.
Hey you!  Get away from her or Illahdamn.  She could feel the searing pain in her left arm.  She fell to her knees and held her arm.  She watched as the figure took the now unconscious Sam in its arms.  Odeda grew angry, she stood and ran towards the figure without heeding the pain in her arm.  Before she could get near enough to strike the figure, two flying bats pounced on her.  They held her down, causing more pain in her left arm.  The figure stood over her with Sam in his clutches.  Odeda saw into the hood of the cloaked kidnapper.
JJack?
Your friend here is going to help me find the Lewej.  I cant have you running off to your little camp friends and telling them though, so I think I will leave your fate up to my pets.  He turned and before him opened two black portals. Do with her as you please, but make sure she does not follow me.  With that he jumped into dark circle with Sam in his arms.  Odeda didnt know what to do, and then she felt the wet, heated drool of the two creatures that had jumped her.  She tried to get loose, but she could not free herself.  Hailahk and Divad had her pinned firmly to the ground, their claws dug into the dirt for a better hold.
What should we do with her?
Lets eat her slowly while she is still alive and fresh.
Sounds like a delightful treat.  Good idea. Odeda shuddered under them as more and more drool fell from their mouths.  She shuddered at their hideous expressions and their smell.  She realized that her legs were free and without thinking managed to wrap her legs around one of them.  Caught off guard Hailahk tried to bite at Odedas leg, but was kicked in the face.  The demon wailed in pain at the lose of more facial skin.  Odeda used the rest of her weight to push Divad off her.  She crawled towards the second open portal that was closing slowly.  Divad grabbed Odedas leg and pulled her away from the portal.  He flung her into another tree.  This time she hit her stomach and fell on her back.  Hailahk was slithering over to her and this time the demon had a knife drawn.  Odeda flipped over and looked at the portal.
I have to get to Sam.
Youre not going anywhere.  Odeda turned to see Divad hanging from the tree like a spider ready to capture a fly.  He lunged at her, but she ducked and he flew right into Hailahk.  They were both down, and that gave Odeda a running start back to the portal.  She had only a matter of seconds before it closed for good.  She ran like her life depended on it and before the demons could get their hands on her, she made a dive at the portal.  She barley made it as Hailahk managed to attack one more time, and was only able to make a small incision on her ankle.  Odeda let out a scream.
