Chapter 6

Sound asleep and snug in his bed, the handsome boy sunk into his cloud like mattress.  School had him beat and after five hours on study, her could finally rest.  Just as soon a he hit the bed and pillows so did he fall into a dream.  He fell from his time to the next and then to another.  Swarms of dark circles surrounded him and before he could retreat he was sucked into another one.  He heard the cries of women and the sound of two swords clashing together.  What was his purpose and why did the cries seem so far away?  As he fell deeper and deeper into the circles he could see a cloaked form coming towards him at racing speed.  He was holding something, no someone in his arms. it wasa woman.  She looked frail and weak as though she had been badly wounded and tortured.  The figured came closer and closer then suddenly stopped right in front of the handsome boy.  When he opened his eyes, he saw what appeared to be nothing more than an empty cloak lying at his feet.  When he leaned over to pick it up a shock of electricity jolted from the cloak and into the boy.  He jolted forward from his bed in petrified horror.  His green eyes were wider than ever and he was clutching his right hand.  When he looked down, he saw that he was holding onto nothing more than his blanket.  This was strange.  What was that?  Who was the man in the cloak?
If you are wondering what you just experienced, it was the work of Acro.  The boy in his bed turned his head to the darkened corner of his bedroom door.
Whoever you are come forward.  The demon behind the voice finally showed his face.
Surly you have not forgotten me in the last 3 years Kurama.  I see that you have taken comfort in the world, a little too much comfort.
Hiei?  What are you doing here?  I thought you had taken leave to the demon world after we defeatedhim.  Kurama was standing now and facing Hiei.  Whenever Hiei showed up, it meant that something was about to happen, or already in the process and he was there to help, or in it for his own benefit.
The nightmare you just had, did you see anything that was unusual?
Yes I did, but I still dont understand why you have come.
There are portals opening to the demon and human worlds, too many of them.  I can sense that there are at least three that have already began to open nearby here.
Portals?  Why?  What is going on?
The dream Kurama.  Did you see the face of the cloaked man?
No and I take it that since you asked me this question that you had the same dream?
No, I was shown something when using the Jagan Eye to find you.  Kurama had taken a seat in his desk chair.  His red hair perfect as usual and his green eye concentrated on the emotionless face of Hiei.  His hands were folded in his lap and he had one leg crossed over the other.  He was thinking of what this all meant.  The voices of women screaming, the cloaked man, and the sound of swords, what did all this have to do with him and Hiei?
What were you shown?
A blue jewel.  It looked very valuable, and felt powerful.  I could feel my power increasing as I looked at it.
You could feel yourself becoming stronger just by looking at it? Hiei nodded his head in reply.  He was wearing his black overcoat and blue tank top under, with his usual black pants and shoes.  Both of them locked gazes and thought.  This was going to be one interesting case; it was just too bad that the recent spirit detective and his human friends had been destroyed in the last battle.  The two of them could really use a joke or something at a time like this to break the tension and silence in the room.  Kurama finally stood and dressed.  Hiei leaned against a wall of the bedroom and stood with his head pointed at the floor.
What do you suppose we do?
You said that you sensed three portals opening already.  Are they opening rapidly?
Yes and I fear that if we dont hurry something unstoppable is going to come, something that not even we can stop.  Kurama paused for a moment as he finished dressing in blue jeans and a red t-shirt.  He thought of his human mother and how he never really spent anytime with her.  He was always out fighting for something, her safety, the safety of mankind, waiting for the day when he could be free of the human body, which protected his inner demon.  Hiei placed a hand on Kuramas shoulder.
We should leave now.
Rightlets go.  The two snuck out of the house and Kurama took one last look at his home, he hoped that his fate would not be the same as his recent friends and that he would return home.  Kurama and Hiei both sped their way through the streets, hoping onto tree branches, and the tops of buildings until they finally landed where Hiei was sensing demon energy.  Kurama could sense it now too.  A presence that was not welcoming, they had stepped into someones territory and it was big.  They stood side-by-side, fighter next to fighter, and friend next to friend.  Kurama looked down at Hiei and Hiei up at Kurama.
You ready? Kurama nodded.
Lets go!
