| Chapter 3 Odeda kept a striking pace and Jack struggled to keep up. She was determined to get to the river and back to the camp without having to look at him. Why do you hate me so much? Because I can, thats why. I dont think you really hate me, you just want to play games. Odeda stopped at the river and wadded her bucket in the cool water. Jack knelt beside her. Just hear me out alright? Pleas? Jack I dont want to hear you out, your not my type. What is that supposed to mean? It means that you and I are not right for one another. Jack was struck quick to the heart when he heard that, but then again he half expected her to slap the living day lights out of him. Well at least I got you talking to me. Odeda pulled in the bucket of water and turned towards Jack. Huh? I wasnt trying- Jack cut her sentence off with a passionate kiss. Odeda dropped the bucket of water and nearly collapsed in his arms. Jack had her by the face and slowly moved down to her waist to support her. He kept one hand at the back of her head, fingering his way through her braided hair. Odeda came back to reality and put her hand between the two of them. Jack looked disappointed. What? What did I do? Nothing. Odeda backed out of his loving hold, picked up the bucket, and filled it once more. I dont get it Odeda. I thought you were just putting up a tough front. I thought you liked me. Jack you and I cant happen. I cannot explain why, but we just cant. Odeda walked away from Jack leaving him by the river. She disappeared into the wood. Jack turned to face the river as he tried to remember having held her for the few precious moments he had her yielding to him. The night was peaceful, the atmosphere perfect, so what was the problem? Why couldnt they be together? When Jack made his decision to go back to camp, he picked up a couple of branches to take back. Suddenly he heard whispering through the trees. Only a fool uses the blue. Jack turned back toward the wood and looked for where the voice was coming from. He decided to continue on when he saw nothing. As he made way back to camp, he heard laughter, evil laughter. Only a fool uses the blue. Jack felt a strong wind blow up his back and he dropped the wood and ran. The voice grew louder and louder. Jack didnt want to know who or what it was. Then he thought, what if it was just Martin and Robert? There was no way he would be made out a chicken. Alright you can come out now guys. You got me okay? Only a fool uses the blue. What the hell does that mean? You guys, come one, stop kidding around From nowhere a large branch flew at Jacks head, rendering him unconscious. He fell with a thud and a cloaked shadow leaned over his body. With only a claw visible, the shadow placed his hand atop Jacks head and his cloak fell next to Jacks body. |
