| Chapter 22 Kurama spotted Hieis body and landed next to him. He laid Sam away from his body and went to his friends side. Kurama reached out to touch Hieis frozen dead corpse, but withdrew and fell back, hands covering his mouth as soft sobs came, slow at first, then faster and faster. He could not believe that his best friend had come to meet such a gruesome end. Sam opened her eyes and rolled over on her side. She saw Kurama crying and looked from his body toHieis. She gasped and crawled on all fours over the Kurama taking him in her arms. She felt rage rise within her. Hiei had not been the best friend she had ever had, but he was damn close to her heart. Over the short days of merciless practice, he was there for her, yelling at her, toughing her up for this moment. She said a prayer inside her heart, and then took up Kuramas head in her hands. She met his gaze. Acro will pay for what he has done. I will see to it that he suffers greatly for this. Sam stood up and focused her energy once more, but she could not summon it. Instead she felt as though something else was pulling her in its direction. She looked off into the distance and she could hear a slight voice calling out to her. The blue will arise when two have joined as one. Sam listened and hung on to every word. She knew her purpose now and it was as clear to her than ever before. She waited for Kurama to take up Hieis body. The two of them walked into the forest with more than one reason to put an end to Acros devious plot once and for all. Acro delivered three punches into Sesshomarus chest forcing her lungs to ache with such abundance that blood spilled out of his ears. Odeda watched helpless in her weak state. She had to do something and looked around for anything, then her eyes feel upon a thick piece of wood. She picked it up, then with as much strength as she could gather, charged at Acro and stabbed the object into the middle of his back, just missing his spine. Acro dropped Sesshomaru, who gasped for breath and turned to face Odeda, who lay passed out on the ground. She was nearing her expiration, then she heard a voice call to her. The blue will arise when two have joined as one. Odeda could barley see what was happening, but something blue had caught her eye. She reached out for it and Acro watched as she moved slowly towards the tree again. He looked in the sky and saw that the moon was not practically at its peak. He bent over and kicked Odeda out of the way. Like the animal he was, he dug just next to the tree, deeper and deeper. He could feel the power of the Lewej as he continued to dig. Faster, he dug until he felt its immense power. He stopped and sat puzzled, as he saw nothing. He could for sure feel its full power, but nothing was there. He reached for Odeda, teeth barred, and growing short of patience. A dagger hit just between his paw and Odedas face. Acro turned to see Sam, Kurama, and Hiei. Sam was running low on her energy, but she had enough to pull out two more daggers, then her eyes returned to their normal state. Kurama set Hieis body under a tree and stood next to Sam. Youve done enough damage Acro. It is time that you met your end, just as Hiei met his. You cannot stop me you fools, I have found the Lewej and soon I will be unstoppable. Sam turned to look at Odeda as she spoke to her. Sam, did you hear it? I heard it Odeda, are you ready? Odeda sat up, and nodded slightly. Acro rushed the two of them, his aim at Sam. Kurama threw his body in the way just as Acro slashed his claws down for an attack. Kurama stopped him with a vine whip and pulled with all his might. Sam? Get Odeda and do what you need to do. Ill hold him off. She nodded back at him. You bastard, you cannot stop me! Kurama leapt out of the way and lured Acro away from Odeda and Sam. Odeda reached out for the hole that Acro had dug. Sam approached her and helped her to the hole. What do we do Odeda? Sam said to her. A gentle wind caressed the two of them and created a barrier. Then a spirit appeared before them. It was a womans voice that spoke to them. You two are the protectors of the Lewej, the most powerful jewel know the man and demon. A mark has been bestowed upon you to prove that you are the keys to unlocking its mystery. Sam and Odeda looked at one another. A faint smile crossed Odedas lips and Sam returned it. They held hands as a string of power reached and touched their foreheads. The mark of a guardian shown bright and they could feel a strong power flow through their veins. Odeda was becoming stronger and Sam was too. It was just enough to replenish what they had lost during battle. Sam was healed, as was Odeda, then the spirit was swallowed in the center of the whole. Thunder clashed in the sky and lightning struck the center of it. Odeda and Sam flew in opposite directions, but were cushioned by something, no someones body. Both turned to see that Sesshomaru had caught them before they collided with trees, then passed out. Odeda look! Sam pointed to where the hole once was. Both of their eyes lit up as the Blue Lewej had finally revealed itself. It was as big as a bolder. Sam slowly made her way back to it; Odeda turned to make sure Sesshomaru was all right. She looked at his now relaxed face. He was hurt badly and blood ran down his lips. She touched his face gingerly as tears rolled down her cheeks. She bent over to kiss him on the forehead, and then joined Sam. He saw through mere slits in his eyes, Odeda as she left his side and he smiled. |
