Chapter 20

Sesshomaru stood a few feet from Hailahk and the two circled one another.  Hailahk was breathing fiercely, not doubt tired of running around doing endless jobs for Acro.  She threw back her head and let loose thunderous screeching, waves of her high-pitched cry engulfed Sesshomaru.  He put his hands up to his ears at the horrid yell; his eyes began to turn red as the demon in him began to take over.  Followed by the yell, Hailahk kicked Sesshomaru and sent him flying into the ground face first.  Hailahk jumped high above Sesshomaru, and aimed another screech attack at him, but he dodged it, leaped above her, and then struck Hailahk with his claws.  She growled and was brought down to the ground.  She shuddered at the pain and held onto her forearm.  Sesshomaru still heard the ringing in his ears and shook his head over and over again.  It seemed as though it would never end.  It got so bad that Sesshomaru dropped to one knee and began to shiver.  Hailahk limped over to him and kicked him in the face.  Sesshomaru fell back, his shoulders dug into the ground, and he thrust his body upward, holding onto his head.  Hailahk stood over him, her drool dropping all over his body.  She grinned and licked her lips.
Enjoying being on the defense for once? I am going to enjoy devouring you slowly.  Sesshomaru was furious; he couldnt believe that a lower demon had gotten the best of him.  Inside he was hurting as the effect of the screech began to make his body burn from the inside out.  Sesshomaru screamed and reached forward.  Hailahk barred her large jaws and came in for the kill, both of them stopping, locked in attack.  Sesshomaru was panting fiercely, as his hand was stuck in the chest of Hailahk.  He pushed further and Hailahk threw her head back in pain as Sesshomaru reached for her heart, twisted it, and poisoned the rest of her inners with his poison dripping claws.  Sesshomaru growled as he looked into the eyes of Hailahk and let her body slide off his arm, leaving it soaked with her black blood.  She fell to the ground and writhed in pain as the poison took its toll on her body.  Soon she had stopped moving, her heart had stopped beating, and her breathing lessened.  The ringing in his head had stopped and he could feel his strength return.  He stood over the dead demon and walked on.  His main focus now was to get Odeda and find the Lewej.  Acro had but one more moon and tonight he would make for it.
Odeda held in her pain as Acro laid another smack across her face, his heavy paws nearly breaking her neck.  She had to stay strong, if she gave in now, she may as well tell him where to find the Lewej and kiss her world goodbye.  Acro growled at her and raised his paw once more.
WAIT! He stopped and looked into her beaten face. Jack? I know that you are in there. Acro let out a boisterous laugh.
He has no control over me. I am Jack. He is gone, his body is mine to control. He slapped Odeda once more, this time she let out a cry.  Her arms grew heavy and her body weak.  She could not transform, or focus her energy.  Suddenly the door flew open and Acro released a low growl.  Something had hit him and hard.  He turned to see that a small dagger was lodged in his calf.  He pulled it out and looked at the door.
Release the my friend or the next one hits your heart. In stepped Sam, her eyes a furious purple.  Odeda was overwhelmed to see that her friend had been safe the whole time.  She could feel the amount of energy in Sam growing ever more powerful.
Dont make me repeat myself Acro. She pulled out another dagger from a small portal created by her hand and she aimed at Acro.  He just stood there as if he were waiting for her to throw it.  Sam wasted no time, she let her dagger fly; she stood wide-eyed and in shock when she found that her dagger had been reflected and was now in her right shoulder.  She took a step back and her eyes returned to her normal state.
Sam! Odeda yelled out.
She held onto the end of it and pulled it out.  Blood gushed out of her arm and Acro laughed aloud, his head back in a cocky manner.  Sam fell to her knees and toppled over.  She could not move at all, nor could she summon her powers to heal her.  The pain was unbearable, but she would not cry.  She had someone to comfort her.  While Acro was busy laughing Odeda was able to focus her energy.
Sam, do not cry.  Relax yourself.
II cant Odeda.  It hurts too much, I cant do this.
Listen to me, we will get through this.
Hiei and Kuramatell them that I am sorry.
Dont you dare Sam, dont you dare give up now. I wont stand for it!
Ehyou are right Odeda she lifted herself off the ground. I cant give up now.  She focused hard and pushed her body back against the wall, her power returning and her wound healed.  Odeda watched in amazement as Sam completely healed herself and was up again ready to fight.
You think you can stop me? You, who can barley, control her powers? What power do you have?
She has us. Hiei stepped in abandoning his promise to let Sam handle Acro herself.  Kurama followed and the two stood on either side of her.  They all took fighting stance and fired up.
So you could not even fight me on your own? Acro slashed at the three, sending a five black energy ring.  The all managed to doge the attack, but it was close.  The attack was not aimed at them, but the wall and was blasted out.  Dust rose and Acro ripped Odedas chains out the wall and used the dust to hide in as he made his escape with Odeda in his arms.  Hiei caught a glimpse of him heading towards the forest.  He quickly collected himself and took off after Acro.  Kurama sat up and coughed he shook his head and looked for Sam and Hiei.  He could not sense her, but could smell blood, tainted human blood.
Sam? He heard no reply.  The dust finally settled and Kuramas green eyes rested upon Sam partly buried in the ruble.  Expeditiously he began to move the heavy bricks off her body.  When he had removed the last one, he knelt down next to her and lifted her fragile body up to his chest.
Sam? Answer me Sam. He waited to see or hear some sign of life in her, a pulse, a heartbeat, a twitch, anything.  He had lost all hope buried his head in her soft hair.  Sam gave a slight moan and reached up for Kurama.  His eyes lit up instantly as she called to him.  He held her hand and kissed it tenderly.  Sam looked into his eyes and the two shard a happy moment, then Kuramas ears picked up something that seemed to be swords clashing together.  He lifted Sam and off they went.
